The Old Oak Tree The old oak tree has been here for over one hundred and fifty years, it has witnessed many events: the crisp, cold winters, the warm, rainy summers, the Indians, the fur trappers, and forty-four years ago it witnessed the founding of Kawaga. Its saw the growth of the camp as well as the growth of each individual camper. This tree not only is a part of camp, but is is camp. Let us assume that this acorn dropped forty-four years ago. It has developed into the sturdy oak that now stands symbolizing the development and maturity of the campers. This then is the basis of our theme that: "FROM THE ACORN GREW THE MIGHTY OAK." (From 1958 Pineneedle) |
