Herb Heilbrun was a Kawaga camper in 1933-1935. His son Jeff was a
camper/counselor for 9 summers, and his other son Doug was a camper,
counselor and administrator for 14 summers. The past few years have
brought a wave of recognition for Herb's participation in World War II as
a B-17 pilot, largely due to his association with Tuskegee airman John
Leahr. This year culminated in the two veterans being honored by the
prestigious Harvard Foundation. You can read their truly remarkable
story The Reunion as was written in the Smithsonian Air and Space Magazine.|
