From the 2000 Annual Pineneedle:

In 86 summers, Kawaga has experienced many changes. However, the philosophies and ideals that were created by "Doc E" remain strong and are still carried on today. While the physical structure and the daily programming have been adapted for modern times, Kawaga continues to uphold its long lasting traditions. The following two pages portray typical days at Camp Kawaga dating back to 1919, and include passages from early camp brochures and past Pineneedles. This history allows us to appreciate how Kawaga has evolved since its "small beginning in 1915" to become what it is today.
